Oil Change

Change Oil Warning Light

Have your oil changed every 6 – 12 months or 3000 miles (5000 km) – 10000 miles (16000 km) using manufacture recommended oil. Its always best to follow your manufactures service schedule, having said that be sure your getting oil that meets or exceeds the minimum specification. Most late model vehicles have a built in  oil life monitor that turns on a warning light when you are due for an oil change. Over the years the oil composition has changed allot allowing for extended drain intervals.  If you are planing to replace your vehicle before it is out of warranty have your oil changed as/per your owners manual. If you plan to keep your vehicle past the warranty period its a good idea to use a high quality synthetic oil. It will far exceed the minimum oil specification and allow you to take advantage of the extended drain intervals with peace of mind that you are not damaging your engine. It may cost a little more now but you will save in the long run. Also be sure you are also checking your oil on a regular basis (I recommend weekly). Some car company’s find it acceptable for your engine to burn up to 1 litre of oil in 3000 km (1800 miles), so if your putting upwards of 16000 km (10000) between oil changes and you car holds 4 litres (well you can do the math).

      Hi Sahouet
A Porsche scan tool or equivalent is required to reset the Service Required Indicator on a 2008 911 Carrera S.
